(Super Belated) Thursday’s Children 6.27: Inspired by the Duck

We’ve all heard the saying, right? If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck…

It’s a DUCK.

Or, how about this one:

The way you do ANYTHING is the way you do EVERYTHING.

I was thinking of this saying the other day, for various reasons, and I realized that I haven’t always behaved like the person I want to be in EVERY aspect of my life. (Though, to be fair, who really has?)

Furthermore, this adage led me to percolate on social media, and really just social things in general. And at the end of a long brainstorming session with my think tank of one, here’s what I came up with:

If you want to be a writer, you should think like a writer. You should facebook like a writer, tweet like a writer and talk to your friends and family like a writer.

And MOST importantly, you should WRITE like a writer. Every day, and in every aspect of your life. Even if it’s just an email to a coworker, or a thank you card for a birthday present. Or a Craigslist post. Whatever.

Quack like a duck, my friends.

Also, if you’re a newby writer and you’re ready to see if you’ve got what it takes? Go to this site and consider letting your MS get “touched for the very first time.”
