Introducing… The Most Fabulous Writing Competition of the Season!

Hey guys, just your friendly Jack of All Trades author/journalist/editor/intern/wine and cheese enthusiast here, letting you know about REUTS Publications’ totally bitchin #NaNoWriMo “offshoot” contest: Project REUTSway.

The rules are simple. Sign up to be kept in the loop, but you won’t have any obligation to do the challenges, unless you want to. (Win, that is.)

Each week in November, pop in to the Project REUTSway site to find out the “challenge” of the week. You’ll then have from Sunday until Thursday night at midnight to come up with a short story (2,000-5,000 words in length, or about 4-10 pages double spaced) that fits the challenge as you see it. Feel free to think outside the box, play with definitions, and basically just blow our minds.

The best part? Unlike #NaNoWriMo, there’s NO 50,000 word minimum! (At least not for you personally.) If you really want to use #ProjectREUTSway to “win” #NaNoWriMo, you can submit 1-3 short stories per week until you hit the 50k. But it’s not necessary. You don’t even have to do all of the weekly challenges! Just pick the ones that inspire you to create.

But hold on just one hot minute. I was just kidding before. The actual BEST part is, if the REUTS team digs your story? You could end up being PUBLISHED in a short story anthology, with the FREE and professional editing and graphic design expertise of REUTS to turn your bragging rights into a FABULOUS, GLAMOROUS printed product. Which you can then send to your mom, your grandmother, your high school ex, basically anyone you like.

Seriously, you guys. WHAT are you waiting for? Sign up now to be the “in the know,” and you’ll be one of the first to find out this year’s theme when we announce it on November 1st. Also, if you’re signed up, you won’t have to go to the site to get updates, because our PRW mentor will E-MAIL them to you. EASY. What’s not to love about that?
